Bloodstained Wiki

A scrap of cloth once worn by an assassin.

The Durable Rag is a Material in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Description[]

Officially, the Durable Rag starts becoming available with the Assassin enemies located during the train ride segment of the Bridge of Evil, as well as just past its east exit station leading down to the Underground Sorcery Lab. Three Durable Rags are used to advance through the middle three ranks of the Flying Dagger directional shard the Assassin itself drops, which adds to the number of projectiles per cast. In a late-game parallel to this, the Assassin's Ninja cousin in the Oriental Sorcery Lab drops the Shuriken conjure shard, which also gains projectiles per cast as it is ranked up and which also uses three Durable Rags to advance it up to ranks 5, then 6, and then 7.

A Durable Rag and a Lili Ears, dropped by the Lili (8%) in the west station of the Bridge of Evil, are needed to "upgrade" a basic Hairband into the Bunny Ears, which offers a highly useful 5 LCK to go along with its 7 DEF. Note, however, that the directly superior Ribbon can be dropped directly by the Titania later in Hall of Termination.

If you have found the Very Fine Equipment/R recipe book in the upper reaches of Dian Cécht Cathedral, a Gunslinger's Hat can be created, offering both a solid survivability buff of 10 DEF and 1 CON and a useful STR buff of 3. This, on its own, can be a slight overall survivability upgrade over the Wolf Hood (6 DEF, 3 STR, 2 CON, 10 Strike resistance) dropped by the much earlier Wolfman, but it also provides a lopsided modification to all firearms, causing each shot fired to deal over double the damage output at the expense of consuming two of the used ammo. However, this downside does not apply to the Infinite Rounds, which will become significantly more damaging than limited-stock SP Rounds and close to the damage of HP Rounds, essentially letting you use firearms relatively effectively with the same freedom as the endgame-tier Recycle Hat.

Note that either of the above recipes can be created before the train ride sequence by finding the free Riding Habit in a breakable wall in the upper-right region of the Towers of Twin Dragons and dismantling that for one free and "early" Durable Rag. The Riding Habit itself should not be equipped as your body armor because you should be equipped with overall superior armor like the Silver Breastplate and the Polonaise, so crafting it yourself is entirely redundant. For the record, the Hellhorse Hoof and Hellhorse Mane needed to craft the Riding Habit are both dropped by the Gamigin that can be found in the upper portions of the Cathedral.

By the time you can get more Durable Rags to drop in larger numbers from Assassins, you can upgrade the rank of several body armors exclusive to three separate paid DLC packages. The Vampiric Skinsuit from the "Succubus Cosmetic Pack" gains 9 DEF and 2 STR by upgrading it into its third version with a Hellhorse Hoof and Hellhorse Mane, both dropped by the Gamigin. The Japanesque Robe from the "Japanesque Cosmetic Pack" gains 3 DEF, 1 STR, and 2 MND by upgrading it into its fourth version using a Mithril dropped by an Axe Outsider. Finally, the Miri Dress from the "Magical Girl Cosmetic Pack" gains 12 DEF, 1 STR, and 2 CON by upgrading it into its third version using Silver dropped by the Bloodbringer.

Availability[]

Only one enemy drops Durable Rags: the Assassin, who have an 8.00% chance to drop it on defeat. They are solely found in the Bridge of Evil; one is directly above the entrance to the Underground Sorcery Lab.

Usage[]

Like almost all materials, Durable Rags are only useful for crafting items via Johannes' alchemy menu in Arvantville.

Durable Rag is one of the Materials required for crafting:

Durable Rag can be used to Enhance the following Shards:

It takes at least 9 Durable Rags to craft and enhance everything in the game, with all nine being base ingredients.
