The Dragon Talons are a Material in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Description[]
Dragon Talons are dropped at a 5% base rate by the Dragon that is first fought in the upper two thirds of the Livre Ex Machina zone, and it is used to enhance the first six ranks (and therefore coverage) of the Dragon-summoning Draconic Rage conjure shard that the enemy Dragon itself drops (at an identical 5% base rate). For much of the game, this will be the only use of Dragon Talons (unless you are using the Risky Blade granted as free DLC, in which case it can immediately be upgraded from its 33-attack third version into its impressively strong 42-attack fourth version).
Once you reach the Hidden Desert, you can start gathering uncommonly-spawning Gold materials from the blue chests to craft Hofud swords, which can then be upgraded into three elemental swords relevant to crafting legendary swords by the end of the game. However, a fourth sword that can be upgraded out of a Hofud is especially useful to players primarily using swords as their preferred method of attack throughout the later stages of the game: the Dáinsleif, a 47-attack sword that is darkness-aligned. It is crafted using one Dragon Talons and one Dark Matter, and just dismantling one Gold material will get you ten pieces of Dark Matter. Two Dáinsleifs can be used up to max out the rank of the Sword Expertise passive shard, which will create a Skill Shard clone that will heavily improve your damage output with standard swords for the rest of the game. (A Dáinsleif can also be "fused" with a Hermes Shoes, using a Fiend Fang, to create Hell's Knells in a separate legendary craft.)
At the end of the game, the Silver Wolfman enemy in the Den of Behemoths may drop the Feral Claws manipulative shard, which deals faster attacks as it is ranked up. Most of the ranks are advanced through using Lycan Claws dropped by the much earlier Wolfman, but the final two ranks are enhanced by using one Dragon Talons and one Demon Claw each (the Demon Claw being a drop from the Hellhound in the Inferno Cave zone.)
Availability[]
- Dropped by:
- Dragon (5.00%)
Only one enemy drops Dragon Talons: Dragons, who have a 5.00% chance to drop it on defeat. They are found in the Livre Ex Machina and the Inferno Cave; one is located left of the grinder room above Livre Ex Machina's Warp Room.
Usage[]
Like almost all materials, Dragon Talons are only useful for crafting via Johannes' Alchemy menu in Arvantville.
Dragon Talons are used to craft the following:
- Dáinsleif (×1 Dragon Talons, ×1 Dark Matter, ×1 Hofud).
- Risky Blade Rank 4 (×1 Dragon Talons, ×1 Sword Fragment, ×1 Sapphire, ×1 Risky Blade Rank 3)
Dáinsleifs can then be used to craft and enhance the following:
- Hell's Knells (×1)
- Sword Expertise Ranks 8, 9 (×2)
Dragon Talons can be used to enhance the following Shards:
- Draconic Rage Ranks 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (×1 Dragon Talons)
- Feral Claws Ranks 8, 9 (×1 Dragon Talons, ×1 Demon Claw)
At least 11 Dragon Talons are needed to craft and enhance everything in the game: nine as a base ingredient, and two to craft other ingredients.
