A heart that continues to pulse angrily.

The Dragon Heart is a Material in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Description[]

The Dragon Heart is dropped by the Abyssal Guardians (5%) populating the Den of Behemoths zone at the end of the game. It is used up in the Legendary Equipment/R-enabled craft where one each of the "elemental swords" — Florenberg, Almace, and Caladbolg — are "fused" into the endgame-tier Ridill sword, with each component sword also requiring Fiend Fangs dropped by the Marbas and Silver Wolfman enemies populating the Den as materials. It is also the last ingredient needed to "upgrade" a Silk Dress into a Scarlet Dress, and it provides the final two coverage-increasing ranks for both the Draconic Rage conjure shard (dropped by the earlier Dragon) and the Void Ray directional shard (dropped by the Abyssal Guardian itself).

In an odd quirk that won't apply to most players because of its rarity, it is possible for the sole Abyssal Guardian fought only once as a boss in Livre Ex Machina much earlier in the game to drop a Dragon Heart at a 5% base rate. If you are lucky enough to have this happen, it will effectively allow you to craft a Scarlet Dress much earlier than normal. Once you start acquiring Silk as drops from the Allocers (and Rocky) in the Hidden Desert, you can craft the Silk Dress (presuming you have found Fine Equipment/R in Hall of Termination), then "upgrade" it using the Dragon Heart, two Demon Hearts dropped by Archdemons (4%) in areas like the Hall and the Forbidden Underground Waterway, and one Queen's Tears dropped from the Tamako-Death (5%) in Livre Ex Machina. You can then equip the Scarlet Dress in time for the boss of Hidden Desert.

Dragon Hearts are also used to elevate four separate pieces of DLC-provided weapons and armor to their final forms. The Risky Blade and Miri Scepter both take an additional Alexandrite (plus an Imbrued Fang in the Blade's case), squarely restricting them to the final two zones of the game, and the Half-Genie Outfit takes a Cashmere that can only be found in the same zones. The Vampiric Skinsuit, however, can be crafted at the same limited, hard-to-realize early opportunity as the Scarlet Dress because its only other required materials are three Demon Hearts. Both offer the same 41 DEF, so in this circumstance, you can choose whether you want the skinsuit's 6 STR and 10 Dark Resistance or the dress' 8 INT and 10 MND.
