The Den of Behemoths is a location in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. It is one of two linked zones existing in a space separate from Gebel's castle that make up the game's final areas, reached by using the Zangetsuto on the blood-red moon in the center of the Garden of Silence.

Progression[]

After winning the Zangetsuto from the rematch with Zangetsu in the Oriental Sorcery Lab very late in the game, you must fight Gebel in his boss room atop the Hall of Termination and be certain to bring his health very low without killing him. If done right, the moon in the background will glow blood red, and you must attack it with the Zangetsuto equipped to pass the battle. Then, the red moon will relocate into the center of the Garden of Silence; once you slice apart this with the Zangetsuto as well, it will create a permanent portal to the top of the Den of Behemoths.

The zone's rooms are as enormous as the enemies inside it, and a huge room lies underneath the top horizontal stretch of rooms, where you can find treasures like the Millionaire's Key (which unlocks the Millionaire's Bane optional boss back in Hall of Termination). This area branches west and east; players will have reason to eagerly go down the west route first because it leads to a dead-end where Miriam can race a non-combative demon named the Harrier to a finish line. If she wins, she automatically receives the incredibly convenient Accelerator shard.

The zone's sole Save Room lies at its southeast corner, and the Valefar boss is located just west of it. At the bottom of Valefar's room, the player can walk behind the right stack of casino chips to reach a red chest containing 1,000G; if from this spot the player jumps inside the left stack of chips, then they will reach a hidden green chest containing the Valkyrie Tiara. In the large room just left of Valefar's, take the west branch into a room with Giant Cannons and find the Cashmere Equipment/R in a chest. South from the large room is the exit into the final zone, Glacial Tomb, which contains the sole warp room "representing" both zones.

Zangetsu Mode[]

In Zangetsu's campaign, the hallway in the Garden of Silence remains normal until he defeats all available bosses (excluding the ones that are explicitly optional for Miriam), at which point the portal to the Den of Behemoths will appear. Worthy of note is that while Zangetsu can race against the Harrier here, he receives no reward for winning.

Bloodless Mode[]

Bloodless must fulfill the same conditions as Zangetsu to make the portal to this area appear. This area contains no major upgrades for her, but it is still worth exploring for the variety of Blood Shards that improve her stats. Her prize for winning against the Harrier is a shard of Blood of Brutality, which stands beyond the finish line.

Blood Shards[]

Aurora Mode[]

Aurora comes to this area after going through a sequence similar to Miriam's. After winning the rematch against Zangetsu in the Oriental Sorcery Lab, she learns that her Sword of Mathildis has the power to unmask evil. With this knowledge, she must fight Gebel until his health is low, and then use the Sword of Mathildis to slice the blood-red moon in the background. The moon will then relocate to the same hallway in the Garden of Silence as it does for Miriam, and Aurora must slice it there as well. This will open the portal to the Den of Behemoths.

The Den of Behemoths itself contains relatively few items for Aurora. Her prize for winning against the Harrier is usually a Sapphire, but more rarely, and more importantly, sometimes the Harrier will drop a single Tristis Shard, which is, like all other Shards with Aurora, a necessary requirement to obtain the mark of 100% completion.
