Tragedy of Slaughter is the sixth stage in Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon.

Overview[]

The setting of this stage is primarily a series of torture chambers in the lower level of the demon castle. Birdcages, butcher knives stained in blood, and cells in the shapes of half-circles decorate the rooms that Zangetsu and his party must navigate through. Obstacles faced in certain sections involves a cluster of bottomless pits and the occasional red-colored iron maiden that might fall on an unsuspecting party member. These sections also contain pendulums and dangling cages in the background. Although these aesthetics do you no harm, they give off a threatening vibe that the inhabitants of the dungeon will shed the blood of their prisoners when given the opportunity. Beware the spinning saw blades that saw their way through the wooden platforms. Besides the ambushing Simians that leap from the ceiling, the saw blades pose a grave threat to those on low health so it is best to jump as quickly as possible so no one in your party gets caught.

The basements are no more pleasant than the dungeon itself. It is a section that houses the castle's hydraulic system due to the fact that the platforms and a pattern in the background is made up of pipes. Lava rivers that can kill in a heartbeat flow beneath Zangetsu and his party, however, Alfred's ice blade sub-weapon is capable of freezing the scorching rivers solid upon contact, allowing navigation through the basements to be more bearable.

The top floor corridor leading to Bloodless's bathroom is an outdoor environment where Zangetsu and his party can catch a glimpse of the ominously waxing gibbous moon in the night sky. The ground is partially bloodstained and the bathroom is guarded by a couple of knights in dark gold armor and constantly spawning Dullahammer Heads. In Nightmare Mode, the moon seen in the night sky is in its waning crescent phase.
