The Critical Hit, or simply Critical, is a gameplay mechanic featured in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Description[]
Critical Hits are hits scored against opponents that deal more damage than a normal strike (usually up to two times as much as a normal strike). They occur randomly and are indicated by a message reading "Critical" that appears above the damage number. The odds of these strikes occurring depend on the player's LCK stat; the luckier one is, the more likely they are to land a Critical Hit.
Items and events that affect Critical Hits[]
Certain items and Techniques can modify the behavior of Critical Hits, whether it is by increasing the damage they deal or the probability of performing one, or both. These include:
- Weapons
- Swords
- Zangetsuto and Sword of Mathildis: Always deal Critical Hits to Gremory.
- Swords
- Accessories: These are stackable, so wearing two of the same or combining them will further modify the behavior of Criticals.
- Assassin's Ring: Slightly increases the damage and frequency of Critical Hits.
- Critical Ring: Increases the likelihood of triggering Critical Hits.
- Lethality Ring: Increases damage inflicted by Critical Hits.
- Ammunition
- Critical Rounds: Bullets that deal frequent Critical Hits.
- Techniques
- Critical Swing: A powerful Technique performable with the following whips:
Trivia[]
- This mechanic is likely borrowed from the Critical Hits from the Castlevania series, having the same or similar behavior as most of the games in that franchise that feature them.
