For the shard, see Craftwork (shard).

Stained glass imbued with regret and with wrath after being broken time and time again.
~ Description from Ritual of the Night

Craftwork is a boss in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. They are broken pieces of stained glass held together by an unknown force which adopts the shape of a giant hand, and acts as the first boss of the Dian Cécht Cathedral.

Description[]

A mechanical monstrosity that resembles a giant hand (or a giant spider, or both) made almost entirely of broken crystal pieces held together by an unknown dark substance (similar to that from Mortes). It has a wide assortment of attacks, some of which that could even be seen as comical (if not for them dealing damage), such as swatting the player away as if they were a bug or wildly running around by using its "fingers" to move.

It mainly attacks by leaping and trying to smash the player or by clinging onto walls. Additionally, there are a couple of statues in the room which Craftwork will eventually pick up and throw at the player during the boss battle (any statues that weren't thrown will indefinitely remain in the boss room). The boss doesn't have a significant amount of HP, though, so any strategy against it will prove useful as long as the player attacks it continuously.

Upon defeat, it yields the Craftwork shard, a Manipulative Shard that allows Miriam to move heavy objects around (such as certain statues and iron maidens). This ability is required in order to clear the path for the carriage in the Garden of Silence to pass through and have access to new areas.

Like most of the other bosses, if Craftwork is defeated without taking any damage, an extra, purely honorary Boss Medal (the Craftwork Medal) will be rewarded.

In Aurora's campaign, defeating Craftwork gives Aurora "the stars", the ability to fly freely with faerie-like wings.
