The Clockwork Nightmare is a location in Classic II: Dominique's Curse. It is counted as the second dungeon and is the dwelling of Valefar, one of the four Dukes of Hell that rule Limbo.
Overview[]
Dominique reaches this clock tower by descending the cliff in the Descent to Wrath and going left. It begins with a corridor that introduces two types of spinning gears. The first rotates horizontally, meaning that anyone standing on it will be carried from side to side along the X axis. The second rotates vertically. Two Bone Mortes are also present here as a hindrance.
A staircase leads Dominique upward to a vertical room which she must ascend by jumping on gears of both types in conjunction with stationary platforms and stairs. Here, she is threatened by slow-moving Mortes, Dullahammer Heads, and Cannon Mortes, all of which can potentially knock her into the bottomless pit below. A door on the left leads to a large room that lacks a floor altogether; traversing it requires complex platforming on gears, moving platforms, and pendulums, while avoiding spikes and flying Ghosts. A clock face is visible in the background of this room.
A door leads to a room that consists of several floors with more stable ground but with more enemies, which include a Zepar and a Dullahammer besides more Dullahammer Heads, Bone Mortes, Cannon Mortes, and Ghosts.
At the end, Dominique enters Valefar's casino-like room where she fights him on a giant roulette wheel. After Valefar's defeat, the roulette wheel breaks and Dominique falls to the floor below, where she gains the Block Breaker. This Skill Shard allows her to break certain walls by attacking them. It is needed to assemble the Logaeth, pages five to eight of which are found in this very dungeon.
