Boss Medal is the collective name given to a particular set of Key Items exclusive to the main adventure of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Description[]
A Boss Medal, individually named "[Boss name] Medal", is a purely honorary item that is awarded if the player is able to defeat a particular boss without taking any damage. Of the four playable characters in Ritual of the Night, only Miriam is able to earn Boss Medals, and only during the main adventure, not Classic Mode.
As bosses cannot be fought again once defeated, each Boss Medal can only be attempted to be earned once per playthrough; due to this, saving the game before fighting a boss is the ideal strategy, as the save file can be soft reset should the attempt go awry. Once earned, a Boss Medal can be carried over in following playthroughs through the New Game+ feature. As only one of each Boss Medal can be carried over, defeating a boss once again without taking any damage will not earn another Boss Medal.

Notes[]
- The three optional bosses, Revenant, Master Carpenter and the Millionaire's Bane, do not possess a Boss Medal to reward, and neither do the crossover bosses introduced in later updates, the Guardian and the Breeder. Since Miriam is only fightable as a boss while playing as Zangetsu or in Boss Revenge Mode, both of which lack Boss Medals, she also does not have a Boss Medal of her own.
Trivia[]
- The Boss Medal system is identical to the Boss Medals introduced in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia.
