Bloodstained Wiki

A precious sword used by a legendary defender and champion.

The Blutgang is a Sword in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Description[]

The Blutgang's basic attack is a modest 4-point upgrade over the Harpé sword you are likely to get the common Malediction enemy to drop. However, it is the only sword in the game that starts off capable of performing the Parry technique; by pressing forward twice and attacking in tandem with the second push, Miriam will spend 15 MP to hold up the sword in front of her and block any attack that inflicts either Slash, Thrust, or Strike damage. If the parry is successfully executed right at the moment Miriam would take damage otherwise, she will teleport into the air above her opponent and perform a powerful downward slash. Successfully executing these parry-counters is the only method of accumulating Mastery points for the Parry technique; once it is fully mastered, all future weapons that use the basic sword-swing attack motion will become capable of it.

The earliest point you can acquire a Blutgang is in a room in Hall of Termination where a tricky-to-reach chest in the upper-right corner requires you to use Double Jump's jump-kick move on a nearby floating Archdemon to give yourself another midair jump. While the Fine Equipment/R recipe book also found in the Hall allows you to craft your own Blutgangs, the required materials largely delay this until you reach the Hidden Desert because it requires a Crystal randomly found inside the many blue chests scattered throughout that zone. (On the other hand, it becomes possible to dismantle and then re-craft the Blutgang to add it to Dominique's supply post so that you can then buy two more copies of it, both at an expensive 12,600G each.) The other ingredients include Platinum, dropped by Axe Outsiders (such as those in the Hall) and found in blue chests in the Hall, and the Grotesque Shell dropped by either the Scythe Mite in the Towers of Twin Dragons or the Mimic in upper Livre Ex Machina.

The reason you would want to eventually get your hands on several Blutgangs is because one Blutgang is used as the material for each of the Rank 5, Rank 6, and Rank 7 enhancements of the Sword Expertise passive shard. The main attraction of doing this is that eventually bringing it up to Rank 9 will create its skill shard clone, which will increase your damage output with all standard sword and club weapons for the rest of the game. Since this can only happen after using two Dáinsleifs as the materials for the Rank 8 and 9 enhancements, it is only worth gathering the materials for crafting Blutgangs once you have reached Hidden Desert; you will get a lot of Crystals from the blue chests while trying to make Gold materials appear from them, which are needed for crafting the Hofud swords used as precursors for the needed Dáinsleifs.

Usage[]

While this is equipped, Miriam's attack becomes the traditional "sword swing" with a +33 ATK boost and the Slash attribute.

It is initially capable of the Parry technique (15 MP, Front → Front + Attack), which will be passed on to all "traditional" Swords/Maces once mastered.

Blutgang can be used to enhance the following shard:
