~ Description from Ritual of the Night

Bloodbringer is an enemy in the Bloodstained series.

Description[]

A sword possessed by a demon and which acts by its own. The Bloodbringer is initially found floating in place, usually at the center of a large chamber. When approached, it starts targeting and swinging at the player.

One of its special attacks consists in quickly positioning itself above the player's current position and then dropping down at great speed. Its other special attack consists in the sword embedding itself on the ground and then traveling all across the floor toward the player at great speed, emerging with an upward slash once it reaches them.

It drops Silver, which is useful for crafting diverse pieces of armor. It also drops the Familiar: Bloodbringer shard, which is a good alternative to the Silver Knight. And lastly, it drops Sword Fragments, which allow to enhance its familiar form.

Bloodbringers return in Curse of the Moon 2, now much larger and some spears are variants of the possessed weapons. Both float at the top of the screen to stay above the player before striking into the ground and producing shockwaves.

Trivia[]

  • The inclusion of this enemy in the game is likely inspired by several possessed flying swords that have appeared in the Castlevania franchise, such as the Bloody Sword or the Ruler Sword.
