Summon a pillar of blood.
~ Acquisition notification

The Blood Pillar is an attack used by Bloodless in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Depending on the mode, it is either a part of her standard equipment or acquired from Blood Shards.

Description[]

Bloodless spawns one or two tornado-like pillars of blood that move back and forth along the ground, bubbling and leaving behind blood as they do so. The pillars repeatedly hurt anything trapped inside them (except for Bloodless herself) and can block many types of attacks. Blood Pillars have a set height starting from ground level and penetrate terrain, meaning that they do not necessarily reach a high ceiling but can hit enemies on a higher floor if the ceiling is low enough.

As a boss, Bloodless spawns twin Blood Pillars from arbitrary places on the ground; these initially move in different directions and simultaneously turn around a few times. When she is being played in Bloodless Mode and Boss Revenge Mode, the pillars behave similarly, although they instead start from the ground relative to her current position.

Availability[]

In Bloodless Mode, the Blood Pillar is not initially available but must be acquired from either of two Blood Shards. One Blood Pillar Shard is in the eastern part of the Forbidden Underground Waterway, specifically in a small room reachable by going left from the top of the waterfall shaft. The other is in the room before Orobas's arena in the Inferno Cave. She can acquire these in either order, but the first one she acquires only allows her to spawn one Blood Pillar at a time, which will move in the direction she is facing and then turn around independently. After acquiring both Shards, she will always spawn Blood Pillars in pairs with no change to the attack's MP cost.

In Boss Revenge Mode, Bloodless always spawns Blood Pillars in pairs.

Trivia[]

  • Bloodless giggles every time she spawns one or two Blood Pillars. If she is not prompted to say anything else within a few seconds (for example, by using another attack or by taking damage), she will follow it up with a maniacal laugh.
  • Bloodless does not use the Blood Pillar during her battle in Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. However, her Bloody Storm behaves similarly, with the key difference that Bloodless herself is inside the tornado.
