Career[]

From an early age, and influenced by her father, Akari Kitō became familiar with anime, games and manga. When she was in junior high school, she started listening to radio programs featuring voice actors talking about various anime, which influenced her to become a voice actress. However, when she was researching how to become a voice actress, she found out that she had to move to Tokyo, so she gave up on that dream for a while.

In high school, she joined the Light Music Club due to the influence of "K-On!" and Nico Nico Douga. She thought about going to a university in her hometown Aichi. She had always thought she would become an illustrator, but before graduating from high school, she was told by her parents that they could not afford to pay for her university education and that instead she would have to apply for a scholarship. So, after graduating, she moved to Tokyo and entered the Pro-Fit Voice Actor Training School. While at the training school, she made her debut in 2014 as Aika Maki in Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!?.

After graduating from the training school, she became a semi-affiliated member of Pro-Fit in April 2015 and a full-fledged member in April 2019. In the same year, she made her major debut as a singer on her birthday, October 16th.

In October 2019, she won the Female Voice Actor Award at the Newtype Anime Awards 2018-2019, where her character Nezuko Kamado in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba also won the Female Character Award.

On October 11, 2020, she attended the Tokyo Skytree lighting ceremony to commemorate the release of the film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train with Natsuki Hanae and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka.

In 2021, she won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 15th Seiyū Awards.

On April 1, 2022, due to the closure of Pro-Fit's production operations, she became affiliated with Raccoon Dog.

In 2023, at the 17th Seiyū Awards, she won the Singing Award as "Nijigasaki High School Idol Club".

On February 3, 2023, to commemorate the release of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba World Tour Screening - Upper Ranks Gather, and a Journey to the Swordsmith Village film, she and other cast members threw beans at the audience at the Setsubun festival held at Sensoji Temple.

She has a fairly low natural voice. Although she initially had a complex about it, due to praise given by her co-workers and public alike, in time she became more confident about it.
